Here's a test of the village program in scale and with potential programmatic configurations. I think the range of different circulations, connections and programs is fun to work with. a sort of sudoku.
i can't help imagining it a bit like moriyama. (duh)

i actually wanted to break the program more down, into smaller footprints, but don't wanna have too many floors either. the lecture halls bugs the shit out of me with its size. and most spaces are on 2 floors anyways.
i was thinking whether or not we even need the slab in this scheme, and instead to just extend the blocks down to +0. so like the cluster model. Since they are almost all touching anyways, they can function as the galleries on the ground floor.
oh and if thats the case then some of the boxes would only be one flr height so that you can still walk on top of them. but instead of walking on the slab, you'd walk form box to box (around the double/triple ht ones).
so far the slab holds everything nicely together.
the main problem that i see with not having a slab is vertical circulation. you would have to double the amount of boxes above and thus have more floors.
you'd lose some m2 due to gaps between boxes, but i dont think it would be double. you're basically just rendering the slab as a series of boxes. dont worry about it though, ill try nd look into it.
regardless though i dont think either option is particularly rad. yet?

i think there will be some nice accidents between the boxes, but that's it. oh, i said double cause in this example the boxes are worth a full floor of program.
i keep thinking about the production vs. passive galleries. i still feel we're missing something. we are just making program configurations so farmaybe i'll dream something!!!
